What Our Parents Say!
My 1-year-old daughter has been enrolled in Carmen’s Pride and Joy on 23rd Place NE for the past month and Carmen and her team have been nothing short but amazing! I am writing a recommendation because it is a new day care (she opened her doors in January) so they still have open slots available for both babies and toddlers. The main teacher, Ms. Banks, has a clear passion and love for children. She always sends my husband and I pictures and truly cares for our daughter as if she was her own. My daughter receives breakfast, lunch and a snack at the facility in which the team makes from scratch. My husband and I receive daily texts of our daughter eating, playing, napping which is much appreciated. We receive a daily report of all of the activities done throughout the day, including meal and nap times. This is our daughter’s first experience in a daycare facility (previously had a nanny), so I was worried about the adjustment, but she smiles every time we drop her off in the morning and is clearly excited and comfortable with the staff. The hours of the facility are 7am-6pm and it is 5 days a week with drop in care options. See the website link below for more details.

My 10-month old daughter had the pleasure of being Carmen’s first student! She has such a great time learning and playing with Carmen and Ms. Banks, one of the two full-time teachers on staff. They are incredibly loving and kind with my daughter, sharing her joys of exploration and playtime and comforting her when she is upset. Carmen made such a warm, welcoming space that is super convenient within the Kingman Park neighborhood. I can’t recommend Carmen and her team highly enough!

My 2-year-old daughter has been at Carmen’s Daycare for the past month and loves it so much! She is so excited every morning to ‘go to school’ and leaves every day with a huge smile on her face.
I can attest that strict COVID measures are taken.

My 20 month old daughter has attended Carmen’s Pride and Joy day care on 23rd Place NE since it’s opening last February. The staff has been nothing but amazing with our daughter, she gets so excited to go to “school” in the mornings! The facility is very clean and they have taken extra precautions due to COVID to ensure the cleanliness and safety for both staff and children. I would highly recommend this facility and would be happy to talk to any parent interested in sending their child here. The facility re-opened in mid-September and currently has openings for both infant and toddler categories!

Hello! My almost 2.5-year-old has been at Carmen’s Pride & Joy (https://carmensprideandjoy.com/) for the last couple of months and I cannot give it enough praise! It is located right by RFK and the hours are 8am-4pm. I have never seen my daughter so happy. She loves going to ‘school’ every day and doesn’t even say goodbye when we drop her off. This week she was learning Spanish and sign language which I was so excited about. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions!!

Hi all –
We are moving out of state soon and we will sadly be leaving our daycare, Carmen’s Pride & Joy. We will be SO sad to leave them so I wanted to pass along the recommendation if anyone is looking for an infant spot!
Carmen (the owner) and the other teachers are incredibly loving, caring, patient and kind. They really treat the kids as one of their own and you can tell how much they love them. After 5 months home exclusively with me, my son was a little “needy” at first, but he adjusted much quicker than I expected and everyone was so patient with him (and me) along the way. It’s the biggest relief knowing he is happy when we drop him off and happy when we pick him up each day! They also send tons of picture and video updates throughout the day which are adorable.
We have felt very safe COVID-wise there and our son has actually never even had the sniffles or a cold, so needless to say the space is very clean and we especially like that the number of kids enrolled is much smaller than a center-based daycare so there is less risk of sickness, COVID or otherwise.

As much as I want to keep Carmen’s Pride and Joy a secret, I have to let MOTH land know how great it is. Carmen’s recently opened in Kingman Park (23rd and E NE) and has been a great home away from home for our 11-month-old. The teachers have been really great about keeping our daughter on her schedule, getting the kids outside everyday and going to local story times. They also provide homemade food and send plenty of pics throughout the day.
I really appreciate that Carmen’s is fully licensed, reasonably priced, and walking distance from where we live (no more car seat battles every morning!). There are current infant and toddler openings, so if you are in the area, check it out. Carmen can be reached at info@carmensprideandjoy.com
I’m also able to chat if folks have any questions.
